This cactus is a hallucinogenic variety that grows naturally in the desert regions of northern Mexico and the southern United States.
Peyote has a history of traditional use amongst native American tribes as a shamanic teacher plant that can give visions of an alternate reality or the spirit world.
It is also used as a recreational drug in western cultures and it has similar (but not the same) effects to LSD or magic mushrooms.
